About Susan

I’ve been developing systems since age 13 when my mom lost her two employees to separate family emergencies in the same week. She was also just beginning to transition her medical practice to its first computer system. Mom asked me to pitch in and help.

She was surprised at my ability to create efficient systems! Over the course of a few years, I developed systems for: insurance billing and all accounts receivables, scheduling, patient service, chart management, and all sorts of small tweaks and improvements along the way.

Finally, mom kicked me out! She thought I needed to get experience working for other people. So, I “marketed” myself to other physicians at her hospital and continued to do similar consulting through college.

Meanwhile, K-12 school was a struggle! In college, I finally realized I could apply systems to strategically learn; my grades immediately rose to a 3.9 GPA with ease! I’ve been teaching these learning systems ever since. Eventually, I discovered the source of my school challenges was having ADHD; ADHD, however, has been like a savant gift for simplicity since *simple systems* are absolutely necessary for me to function.

I was a classroom teacher before becoming a project manager and consultant for the world’s largest textbook company for several years. In 2005, I started a publishing business that produces books, curriculum, and training materials to share my learning systems with the world.

I built my StudySkills.com business out of almost-no-money and grew it to an annual revenue of several thousand before hiring my first employee…all while remaining an active mom to two young children with significant learning disabilities; this was all possible due to my constant use of *efficient systems.*

I’m also beginning my fourth year as a member of Perry Marshall’s Roundtable. Perry says Roundtable is where “iron sharpens iron” and he’s not kidding! It is the greatest mind-expanding experience and gives me a glimpse into many different industries.
